Description: A photo of a man and a woman smiling for the camera. A photo of the same woman smiling beside her infant daughter. A photo of the same woman on her front lawn surrounded by pairs of shoes holding a sign that reads: Team Sasa. Preparing to kick cancer to the curb. The same couple sitting for an interview. Text: 2015.
Sandra: We did remember right away, before we even started treatment, that we had
the critical illness insurance. And we contacted our advisor about it.
Warren: It was such a great feeling and such a huge relief to just have so much less to worry about and put all our time and energy and thoughts into just getting better just one day at a time.
Description: Dressed in winter clothes, Sandra and Warren stand together outside.
Sandra: I'm in remission as of a few weeks ago, so I will do every three months checkups and do that for a few years. And hopefully in five years, I'll be once-a-year checkups and that's it.
Description: Sandra and Warren hold hands, walking across a winter street. Years later, Sandra and Warren walk hand-in-hand through autumn trees. Text: 2025.
Sandra: So it took a long time to be told that we were in remission.
Description: Sandra sitting beside a fireplace. Text: Sandra, cancer survivor.
Sandra: We definitely celebrate every year on the anniversary, but we also just celebrate life. So we celebrate half-birthdays. We celebrate birthdays, we celebrate just because it's Tuesday.
Description: Warren and Sandra sitting together on a couch while Warren scratches a dog.
Warren: Who's a good boy? Yes, who’s a good boy?
Description: Sandra and Warren engaged in discussion at the kitchen table.
Sandra: We both find it very important to talk about the critical illness insurance and we try and tell everybody about it because without it, we would be in a much different financial situation.
Description: Warren sitting on a couch. Text: Warren, Sandra’s husband.
Warren: There's a lot of things that happen in your life that you have no control over. For example, illnesses, injuries, you can't control that. So something like signing up for a critical illness plan is a way you can prepare to handle the things that you have no control over.
Description: A man dressed in business attire sits in an office. Text: Greg Bennett, Sandra's financial advisor.
Greg: I love the fact that, you know, we were able to go through the claim process, she's recovered and the future looks bright for her. And looking back now, after those ten years and doing this today makes me feel even more wanting to tell people how important this is.
Warren: The best time to do it was yesterday. The next best time is do it right now.
Description: Sandra standing in front of the house. Sandra and Warren together outside.
Sandra: I'm grateful that I'm here. I know that it could have been different.
Description: Sandra and Warren, laughing together on the couch, standing together outside, and walking together down a tree-lined path.
Sandra: Having hope that everything was going to be okay, and being positive, has got us to where we are today.

For a limited time, clients who apply for critical illness insurance together with life or disability insurance on the same application can get three months of premium waived on their critical illness insurance policy. And if they apply for an eligible adult LifeAdvance™ policy, they’ll also get a 5% reduction on their premium payments for the life of the policy – providing even more value.
Clients can get the coverage that fits their insurance needs without extra steps. It’s designed to support more complete protection when it makes sense – and rewards thoughtful planning.
This is only available for applications received between Sept. 22 - Dec. 31, 2025.
Why critical illness insurance matters
Critical illness insurance provides a lump-sum payment in the event of a serious health event covered by the policy that can help cover expenses like lost income, medical treatments or time off work, so clients can focus on recovery – not bills.
This offer gives clients another reason to act now on something that’s often overlooked – helping to protect their savings if they’re diagnosed with a serious illness.
For clients to qualify for the critical illness insurance premium offer:
- Clients must apply for both products on the same application.
- The application must be for two or more products for the same insured person. It must include at least one of each of the following products:
- Critical illness insurance
- Any life or disability insurance
- If the only policy being applied for in addition to critical illness insurance is Canada Life My Term™, the minimum base amount of life insurance coverage must be $250,000.
- Both qualifying policies must remain in force for at least 12 months.
When clients qualify for the offer, premium payments on the critical illness insurance policy will be waived for three months at the first anniversary of the policy.
- Annual billing: Clients will have their second annual premium reduced. Their billing notice will reflect a 25% discount – equivalent to three months of waived premium payments.
- Monthly pre-authorized debit plan (PAD) billing: We won’t withdraw premium payments from their account for the first three months after the first policy anniversary.
The current 5% critical illness insurance premium reduction will still apply to eligible adult LifeAdvance™ critical illness insurance policies.
